Is Myanmar Facebook team silencing the critics of Min Thu and Ye Min Oo?

First, the military and Arakan Army(declared as terrorist organisation by Myanmar government) had a network of Facebook fake accounts. They will report to Facebook en mess if they don’t like an article which is critical of them. That is understandable as they are notorious for their violent acts and they use the Facebook system to undermine it.

On the other hand, most Facebook accounts which incite hate speech based on religion and ethnicity are flourishing across Facebook. Myanmar Facebook team failed to remove these fake accounts used by the military and its proxy parties from the internet effectively.

So what Myanmar Facebook team is doing? This team has been used by both the military and some ministers close to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to silence their critics. Where is my evidence? In the past, I used to write about the high ranking prison officers who incite riots inside the prison to undermine the civilian government. As a result, they informed Myanmar Facebook team and my account was removed by Facebook team in Singapore without any warning. Therefore, I set up a website and I do have enough followers to do what I want to do even my Facebook account is closed.

In addition, I wrote an article how the military was trying to rig the vote by coercing its members to vote for USDP party supported by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. This article was removed by Facebook saying that it is voter suppression and no appeal was allowed. Obviously, this is not a voter suppression and I am unearthing the vote rigging.

There are few more things make me worry about now. I have seen few accounts who are critical of U Min Thu who is the minister of union government and also critical of Ye Min Oo who is the state level minister in Yangon government are restricted or banned. Normally, Facebook team won’t do anything to those accounts. These ministers are not individuals or private people and they are government officials. Therefore, they are not entitled to privacy and they will be scrutinised like any government officials around the world. I am quite sure that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi won’t let them do it if she has known about it. At the moment, U Min Thu and Ye Min Oo are using Myanmar Facebook team to silence their critics account like Ko Ko Zee and Ah Linkar Oo. I am sure Mother Su is reading my article and hopefully she will let her ministers know about it and take some action. Ah Linkar Oo account is established account and they can take action if she does anything wrong. It is not coincidence that their accounts are restricted in that way. They didn’t write any hate speech. What they are doing is to make sure these ministers are accountable to the people and scrutinising their past dealing with the military. They are actually doing to improve the image of the civilian government led by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

What Min Thu and Ye Min Oo should do is to come clean with their past and serve the country. For Min Thu, he should reform General Administrative Department more effectively and for Ye Min Oo, he should declare his conflict of interest and resign from his private companies as Trump did. At the moment, what they are doing is very damaging to the image of the government.
