Something big happened in Mandalay on the 18th of October and it is at the Chinese consulate. People saw a double cab car and someone inside the car threw a bomb. The curiosity is who threw this bomb and who is behind this.
It is good to know what is going on inside Burma(Myanmar). It is fair to say that Myanmar is going through a revolution since the coup. People are fighting against the junta and they are winning against the junta despite the odds. Unlike other revolutions, they did not receive any weapons from super powers but they are still winning.
However, the speed of the revolution changed from October 27th 2023 when the three brotherhood alliance started attacking the junta. It led to the fall of the north eastern command and the western command is also under attack. Its days are numbered. Inside the junta’s command, they assumed that this success was because of China’s support to this three brotherhood alliance. The paranoia went up when the US met Myanmar’s Navy personnel and asked them to change the course and provided some evidence of China’s support. It is needless to say that the current junta head Min Aung Hlaing hates China and he was furious when he saw the evidence. Therefore, he has asked his confidants to stage anti Chinese protests in Yangon and Mandalay. It is obvious who can organise this kind of demonstration in Yangon and Mandalay in 2024. If you protest against the junta, you will be locked up in the jail. It is the same like in China, where no one can demonstrate without the permit. This idea was given from his supporters like NP News commentator Kyaw Myo Min and Peoples Media presenter Kyaw Soe Oo. They planned to burn down the Chinese market, and their temple.
Mandalay is the stronghold of nationalist monks and the militia. They abducted and killed NLD family members as a warning to others. This is spearheaded by Maj-Gen Ko Ko Oo when he was the commander of central command.
These facts indicated that the culprit behind the bombing of China’s consulate in Mandalay is the junta and the militia under the command of the junta. There are other reasons beyond that. The hallmarks are the same when the junta’s chief instructed the assassination of NLD lawyer U Ko Ni via his old PSO. This time, he used the current PSO.
The junta was very good at pitting the NLD against the ethnic armies and People used to believe these fake news in the past. These fake news are like Daw Aung San Suu Kyi ordered to bomb or attack the ethnic army groups although we all know that the military is now bombing them anyway while they put Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in jail. They tried to ignite the ethnic tensions between Rohingya and Rakhine in the past together with their ultra-nationalist ethnic groups. In spite of that history, they can still recruit Rohingya to fight for them although they committed multiple crimes against the same population. Now the junta is trying to use the same trick when anti-China sentiment are high due to the media leaks where China is asking three brotherhood alliance to stop fighting. Now China is sandwiched between the two groups where both groups hate China for different reasons. For the junta, they think that China provided weapons to the three brotherhood alliance and for the democratic forces, China is trying to stop their win against the junta by pressuring three brotherhood alliance to stop fighting, which has not been received well.
As I said before, the PDF doesn’t control Mandalay and the only junta forces are able to operate freely inside Mandalay. There is a history behind what the junta and its militia used to do in Mandalay and therefore it is very easy to deduce who perpetrated these crimes.
Why? The junta knows that the public sentiment against China is high on both sides but if it can place a wedge between China and the democratic forces, it will gain a lot when his leader visits China next month.
However, China should see the wave of people in Mandalay who came to pay last respect to their beloved Chief Minister of Mandalay who happened to be the Vice chairman of NLD. This means that the support for the NLD is strong inside and outside Burma. Therefore, it is easy to conclude that the support for the NUG is very strong both inside and outside Burma because even the junta accepted that the 80% of donations are coming from the NLD supporters and sympathisers inside and outside the Burma.
It is time for China to stop interfering in Burma and stands with the people and the National Unity Government of Burma which is supported by the people and the NLD. I hope that China can make the right decision. Otherwise, it will be very difficult for China to do any business in Burma and this won’t be good for all of us.
